Project Task Management
One of Alemba's longest-standing clients is a significant provider of satellite communications to the Broadcast, Government and
In order to manage an operational environment that is continually being augmented with new services, it is necessary to have due process around change management, and in particular new service introduction.
To this end, Alemba has worked closely with this client to enhance the Infra Enterprise application to allow “new services in project” to coexist with “live services” within the Infra Enterprise environment.
In order to effectively track the wide variety of tasks associated with a project, Alemba customised Infra Enterprise to record each project task (known colloquially as a “Snag”), and to track its progress to a successful conclusion.
During the project implementation phase a new service may accumulate a number of tasks which need to be resolved before the project can migrate to a fully live service.
Once a new project starts, the service is created in Infra Enterprise with a status of “implementing” and tasks are opened and closed as the project progresses.

Tasks are recorded using the above left screen and are associated with the relevant service. An orange dot is then placed next to “Snags” on the left hand explorer window to denote that the service has tasks to be completed (above right).
Clicking on the “Snags” feature enables a manager to view all the tasks associated with a particular service (below).

Individual Project Managers and Senior Managers are then able to obtain a clear view of project workload, either on a per service basis or on a more holistic basis across the Project Management Team as a whole, using the global view feature in the main view menu (below).

Future works planned between Alemba and this client will allow project task information to link directly into calls or planned works that affect services with open tasks.
